Stadtkommandantur der Haupstadt der DDR Berlin

Stadtkommandantur der Haupstadt der DDR Berlin living history group

Welcome to the Stadtkommandantur Berlin living history group website. We are based throughout the UK and cover all areas of the eastern side of Germany. This includes the Nationale Volksarmee, the Grenztruppen der DDR (Border guards), the Stasi and, for the younger members of the group, the Freie Deutsche Jugend (Free German Youth, FDJ).

The group has been created to cater for our collecting and historical interests and in no way does it represent (or aims to represent) our political views. Membership of the group and taking part in its activities does not in any way imply endorsement of the policies pursued by the former German Democratic Republic.

We have been increasing in size over the last few years, with vehicle-ownership and uniforms/deactivated weapons collecting having blended to provide as accurate as possible a historical recreation of life in the armed forces of the DDR. We mainly attend events around the UK but have also done trips to Putnitz and Gnadau in Germany for a eastern block vehicles events.

The Stadtkommadantur Berlin Living history group recognises the possibility of  controversial portrayal in this hobby and is a totally non political organization.
People with para military, ideological or extreme views will NOT be accepted as members. We do not take any views of the GDR or the Soviet Union into consideration.
